J-Hawks Aquatics

Olympic Champions Josh Davis & Peter Vanderkaay led an awesome BREAKout! clinic in Whitewater, WI on October 12, 2008 with the swimmers of the J-Hawk Aquatics swim team.

“as a parent (even though I didn’t see much) from what I saw was simply amazing. I felt that Josh really helped explain stroke techniques in a way that kids can relate to. The kids all seemed to respond with a positive attitude and it didn’t matter what age the “student” was everyone had a good time. I enjoyed the fact that the clinic was divided between in pool time and lecture time. It was something well worth the money and if given the chance, would defiantly do again.” - Kim (Parent)

“Thanks for hosting this event- we all enjoyed it and learned a lot! The boys learned some valuable swimming tips and life skills and my husband and I were genuinely motivated and truly inspired by Josh. The boys thought it was so cool to wear Josh and Peter’s gold medals, get their autographs, and have their picture taken with them. The clinic was very organized, well-run, and all of you coaches were most welcoming. Thank you!” - (Dad, Parent)

“The clinic was fantastic! I think one of the best moments (for Brett) was when Peter started talking about how his friends used to not understand why he made the choices he did (ie staying home on Friday nights, practicing all the time, watching what he ate, etc). Brett has run into that lately with his friends and it made him feel better. Peter even took some time after to talk with him a bit more about it. The fact that both Josh and Peter were so personable and approachable made it such a memorable experience – thank you for this opportunity!” - (Parent)

“She thought it was great. It was very well organized and it seemed to keep the kids attention the whole time. Josh’s energy level is amazing. I felt that he tried to connect with all the kids. Thanks for offering this. It was great. I’m going to take it back to our club to do for a possible fund raiser. I know the clinc was worth every $ we spent. Kristen went away with a number of good pointers. Thanks Again for offering this.”

“Our daughters really enjoyed the day! Simple and impactful messages. . .stuff you think will stick with them. Quite a thrill to see Peter post-Olympics - very memorable. Thanks for coordinating.” -Kristin Wallace, FAST

“We thoroughly enjoyed the event yesterday. Thanks again for organizing it. See you at the next meet!” - Carrie Taylor, Southwest Aquatic Team

I thought it was awesome, I only saw the last hour of it as I had to work, but WOW what a great opportunity for my kids to get pumped up about a great sport. The amount of kids was perfect, I was glad to see that there were not too many kids and they were all ages, which was awesome to watch him relate to all ages. I would most defiantly come again, I hope you will organize another one. - Susan Earle

Thank you so much for hosting the Breakout Clinic - it was so much better than we could have imagined. Our son, Remington Glogovsky, came away with a greater enthusiasm for the sport. It’s funny - as parent’s we offer support and encouragement - but when it comes from former Olympians, nothing else compares.

“As a parent I was impressed by all the information about technique, drills, turns, starts, etc. that they packed into the four hour time frame - but then when they personalized it with their stories and motivational speeches, I was blown away. Our son talked about his experience for the hour drive home and how exciting it was to race against Josh and Peter. I think the highlight was winning Josh’s cap for his streamline! Thanks again - I wish that clinics similar to this were offered more often!
Josh and Peter hit so many good points and gave so much great information in that short time frame that I am not sure how much of it Remington will retain.”
- Dawn Glogovsky
