What a special treat.  We kicked off our new year with a Mutual of Omaha BREAKout! Swim Clinic right in my own backyard.  Home for a couple of months, Randall Bal flew in to help me inspire the young swimmers at TMI-Episcopal School of the Southwest.

Honestly, I didn’t realize what a great facility was hiding on the TMI campus.  I think you guy will be seeing me more! :)

Randall was awesome.  He just returned from Europe where he earned the title as the World Champion Backstroker by winning 21 out of 21 races in seven cities around the world in the World Cup Series.  He won a “small” prize of $100,000!!!!!

All you swimmers out there who don’t think you can make money in the sport of swimming…KEEP SWIMMING!

Well, if I could give money to some San Antonio swimmers I would.   Max and Serena would have earned some money off of their streamlines!  Great job you guys.

The Spirit award goes to Danica and Paul.  This is my most prized award.  Being the Co-captain of the 2000 Olympic Team, I understand the importance of having spirit.  I’ve watched teams win and lose over the leadership of a captain.  Danica and Paul keep up the great spirit and your team will find its way on the path to success!

After the clinic, I had 30 minutes to catch my plane and head to my next clinic.  That may seem like plenty of time until I tell you that the airport was 20 minutes away!!!  You don’t want to do this at home swimmers…this is only for a professional–but I made my flight!!

A big thanks to coach Eddie and my great friend Fletcher Watson.
