Bedford, VA – Bedford YMCA Barracudas
Monday, April 2nd, 2007Yesterday’s Breakout Swim Clinic was a blast, as usual!
But this one at the Bedford Area YMCA in Bedford, VA was extra special. The reason being because I was joined by my good friend Ed Moses!
Ed is the fastest swimmer to ever come out of Virginia and at one time, the fastest breaststroker in the world! Not only does he have a lot swimming experience to share with the kids but he has a great sense of humor and he knows how to motivate and keep the sport fun.
We had a great group and we really got to know them well. Everybody had a chance to race me in freestyle and Ed in breastroke. The swimmers loved the racing and the goody bags. But what fun it was for us to see these athletes really making changes in their strokes and with their streamlines. Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing kids swim faster and easier because of improved technique.
The streamline awards went to C.P. for the boys and Lizzie for the girls. Those streamlines make me so happy! Keep up the good work!
As always, the parents were great in their support, their organization and for providing lunch!
We are especially grateful for super swim mom, Mary Beverly!! Mary and her family were kind enough to host me and it was such a treat getting to know them. Their boys, Brice and Travis, are awesome and just keep improving on their strokes.
I always love coming to Virginia, especially this time of the year when the trees are almost in full bloom. I hope I can come back next year and see the “Barracudas” progress even more!
With the help of their awesome coach, Coach Annie, I have no doubt they will keep getting stronger in the pool and stronger in character.
Thank you Bedford Y for hosting us. We trust you will “breakout’ into new and continued success!
