The final group of 100 Days of Caring volunteers from Mutual of Omaha spent their time at the Nebraska Food Bank, painting numbers on the risers that hold the large food donations. The numbers will help the Food Bank stay organized and keep track of their inventory.

Three Mutual of Omaha volunteers worked hard to finish painting at the Food Bank, creating a bright space for everyone who passes through.

With the volunteer/board/multi-purpose room already painted the day before, some Mutual of Omaha volunteers spent their time at the Food Bank painting the white cinder block hallway, making the area more warm and welcoming for all who work and volunteer at the Food Bank.

A group of Mutual of Omaha volunteers kicked-off a project to give the volunteer room at The Food Bank a fresh look. The idea for the project came when a creative Mutual of Omaha employee noticed the room could use a facelift while visiting the site prior to 100 Days of Caring. In an effort to make the room more inspiring, energetic and fun, volunteers set a plan to paint the room that provides a space for board meetings, volunteers and cooking. After several hours of steady work, the volunteers were successful in giving the room a fresh coat of paint.

Volunteer opportunities abound at The Food Bank, and these Mutual of Omaha volunteers responded by taking stock of what the Food Bank has in storage.

The Nebraska Food Bank received five gigantic boxes of strawberry shredded wheat cereal and a group of Mutual of Omaha volunteers were tasked with making single-sized portions of the cereal. This involved putting labels on the bags, filling, vacuum sealing and boxing them before they could be stored. Donning masks and hair nets, the volunteers accomplished the job and had some fun along the way.

Another group of Mutual of Omaha volunteers returned to the Nebraska Food Bank and finished packing bags for the Food Bank for Kids BackPack program. They also did a little sorting and organizing of donations to finish off their four hours of volunteer time.

Mutual of Omaha sent a group to the Nebraska Food Bank to stuff plastic bags of kid-friendly food for the the Food Bank for Kids BackPack program, which provides kids from low income homes with healthy snacks for the weekend.
