Volunteer opportunities abound at The Food Bank, and these Mutual of Omaha volunteers responded by taking stock of what the Food Bank has in storage.
In typical Mutual of Omaha fashion, volunteers finished the Girls Inc. safety fence early! The volunteers did a little clean-up around the fenced-in area and beautified the space seen by many people each day.
A special thanks to Jerry of Girls Inc. and the crew from Mutual of Omaha’s facilities – their expertise and talent guided the project to a perfect finish.
A hard-working group of Mutual of Omaha volunteers installed more fence “netting” at Girls Inc., keeping the project moving along right on schedule.
After installing the new metal posts, this group of hardworking Mutual of Omaha volunteers started putting up more “netting” at Girls Inc.
A large group of Mutual of Omaha employees headed to Freedom Park to do some work for the City of Omaha’s Parks & Recreation Department. They painted some of the historic displays throughout the park and did some sidewalk clean-up by removing the grass that had overgrown the pavement.
The volunteers even got a little creative, spelling out the initials of their department (Information Services).
Mutual of Omaha volunteers spent the third day at Girls Inc. doing some heavy labor – removing and moving the old wooden fence posts to prepare for the new chain-linked fence.
Today marked the beginning of Mutual of Omaha volunteers working to install a brand new chain-linked fence at Girls Inc. The fence will go around the entire north campus and protect the girls from any unfriendly neighborhood dogs. With the completion of the fence, the girls will be able to use the field to play sports without worrying about their safety.
A team of 20 volunteers helped create a wonderful place to play for children at the Maternity Group Home of Youth Emergency Services. For 35 years, Youth Emergency Services has offered a safe place for young people in crisis through their shelter program. The Maternity Group Home is one of their newest programs, providing services to runaway and homeless youth 16 to 21 years old who are pregnant or parenting and may not otherwise be able to access services. It is designed to provide an environment in which youth will be able to develop the ability to function independently in the community.
Thanks to these volunteers, the young children at the group home now have a brand new playground.

They started with a blank slate.

They assembled a play structure.

And ended up with a great playground for the children staying at the Maternity Group Home!
A group of networking and computer experts from Mutual of Omaha visited the Omaha Street School and installed the technology tools for the school’s new media center room. The installation helped put the finishing touches on the room, which has received new coats of paint, newly installed carpet squares and new furniture. The room will be used by students at the Street School, enhancing their learning experience.
